New Mexico First Chaplains exists to assist law enforcement agencies in establishing and strengthening chaplaincy programs that support officers, staff, and their families.

NMFC provides training, guidance, and support for chaplains serving the law enforcement community throughout New Mexico — helping departments build resilient, well-equipped chaplain units grounded in professional and ethical standards.

How NMFC Serves Agencies

Chaplain Training

The NMFC Basic Law Enforcement Chaplain Training — 16 hours of NMLEA-approved foundational instruction for chaplains serving law enforcement agencies across New Mexico.

Program Development

Guidance and hands-on assistance for agencies interested in establishing a formal chaplain unit — from structure and policy to recruitment and deployment.

Officer & Family Support

Encouraging emotional and spiritual resilience within the law enforcement community — supporting officers and their families through challenging moments and critical incidents.

Basic Law Enforcement Chaplain Training

Approved by NMLEA

This course provides foundational training for individuals serving or preparing to serve as law enforcement chaplains. The training equips chaplains with the knowledge, ethical framework, and practical skills necessary to support officers, departments, and their families.
